Annual Appeal

Our 2023-2024 Annual Appeal

Dear Families and Friends of Kino,

Happy Thanksgiving! The school year is off to a great start. This year, we have over 70 students, and it has been wonderful getting to know all the new faces! With the help of everyone’s donations last year, the Primary playground was replaced in time for our 12 Primary students to enjoy it this year. They love the swings, the slides, and climbing. The new structure is a commercial grade playground, so no more splinters! It should provide a safe, fun place to play for many years.

This year, we are hoping to repair the wooden decks outside of the art center and the big kid’s playground. You may know the structure outside the art center as Patti’s Place. It was named after a beloved Kino art teacher named Patti Crowley, who passed away unexpectedly in 1998. Her family donated this structure in her honor. While these platforms are still popular areas for classes, socializing, and playing, the wood is in dire need of repair. We are hoping to raise enough money to remove the wooden planks on both the platforms and replace them with durable composite decking boards to help keep them looking beautiful for years to come. An estimated cost to renovate both structures is $11,000.

These platforms are unique and iconic parts of Kino School, and have been enjoyed by students for many generations. If you have any memories of you or your children playing on Patti’s Place, consider donating to help continue to make them safe, fun, and enduring parts of our school. All donations made by December 31st, 2023 are tax deductible for the 2023 tax year.
